Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, officially launched the operation of five school buses for special needs at the City Hall Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Wednesday (1/17) morning.

The bus launching was also attended by tens of students accompanied by their parents and teachers from children with disabilities or Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) in Jakarta.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono said the presence of five school buses was to help accommodate students with special needs.

"Today, we're present at the launch of school buses for special needs. Its provision is an encouragement for parents of children who need special attention," he expressed, at the location.

He explained the Jakarta Government would gradually improve services and the fleet of school buses to meet accommodations for disabled students in Jakarta.

"The bus will be added continuously. Based on data-based needs, the Jakarta Government needs a fleet of 80 school buses, but it will only operate five bus fleets in 2024," he explained.

He continued his thanks to all levels of SLBN 8 and 9 and the Kebayoran Baru Foundation administrators for the Development of Disabled Children (YPAC) for continuing to accompany children with disabilities to school.

"I also prompt Jakarta residents to continuously encourage children with disabilities to go to school," he added.

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo explained the five buses will operate on Rorotan - Marunda (SLBN 8); Plumpang - Sunter Kemayoran (SLBN 9), and three buses with a final destination to YPAC Kebayoran Baru School.

"Three school buses heading to YPAC schools depart from Kalideres in West Jakarta, Muara Baru in North Jakarta, and Lubang Buaya in East Jakarta," he explained.

It is following the initial identification of the number of students with disabilities heading to three schools with special needs in Jakarta.

"We'll add the fleet in 2025 and will be under evaluation stage results during 2024," he uttered.

The bus launch received a positive response from Santi (40), a parent of Hany Putri, a student of SLB YPAC Kebayoran Baru.

"Since it started operating in early January 2024, I no longer have to pay transportation costs to take my children to school from my residence in Kedoya to my daughter's school. The bus stop is also right in front of the entrance to the house," she admitted.
